The Minns Labor Government is today announcing the establishment of a new state-led approval pathway for major residential housing projects, as well as a process for rezonings – neither having to be approved by councils, cutting approval times and speeding up the delivery of new homes.

The Minns Labor Government is today revealing an under the radar Housing Taskforce that has already unlocked over 13,000 homes by resolving delays on developments that have been stuck in government bureaucracy, helping to deliver more homes and jobs.

More than $52.5 million in additional disaster recovery funding has been approved by the Albanese and Minns Governments to help the Byron Shire Council restore damaged road infrastructure.

The HumeLink transmission project has been approved by the Minns Labor Government, making it one of the largest transmission projects to be approved in the state’s history. The approval means it can now proceed to the Commonwealth Government for final approval.

The Minns Labor Government will deliver nearly 500 new homes to the Wagga Wagga community, 40 per cent of which will be new, modern social and affordable housing following the approval of the rezoning request for the Tolland Renewal Project

As part of the Minns Government’s commitment to deliver more well-located homes close to jobs and transport, the community surrounding the future Orchard Hills Station is being consulted on the precinct’s Stage One rezoning proposal.

The Minns Labor Government’s Transport Oriented Development Program (TOD) is unlocking more homes and supporting localised housing solutions following the completion by Canterbury-Bankstown Council of a master plan for Canterbury Station and TOD controls for Berala Station being finalised with Cumberland Council.

Recovery support will be available next week to Broken Hill and surrounding remote communities including Tibooburra, Wilcannia, Menindee and White Cliffs.

Central West homeowners impacted by the 2022 floods are invited to apply to rebuild, repair, relocate, raise or buyback homes thanks to the $40 million Resilient Homes Program, jointly funded by the Albanese and Minns Governments.
