Wollongong expands EV charging network with 12 new chargers

09 July 2025

The Minns Labor Government is installing 12 new Electrical Vehicle chargers across Wollongong, as part of a $5 million expansion of the kerbside and carpark electric vehicle charging network in NSW.

The new infrastructure will make charging easier, more accessible and convenient for drivers who don't have off-street parking, such as those who live in apartments and densely populated areas.

Drivers across Wollongong will benefit from 12 new EV chargers to power up their electric vehicles to be installed in Gwynneville, Wollongong and North Wollongong.

The chargers – ranging from 7 kilowatts to 22 kilowatts – will be installed on kerbsides or in public council car parks over the coming year.

The EV chargers funded under this grant are in addition to the one recently announced for Warrawong Plaza.

They are among 549 new chargers being installed under the NSW Government’s EV Kerbside Charging Grants. The government is delivering $2.8 million worth of grants to five recipients which will contribute another $2.2 million in private investment. The recipients are Charge Post, Connected Kerb, EVX, Plus ES and Electrifying Asset Management.

“Expanding the EV charging network in Wollongong, gives drivers the confidence they need to go electric, knowing ample charging options are readily available.

“The addition of 12 new EV chargers in Wollongong will enhance accessibility for residents who don't have the ability to charge in a garage or off-street parking.
