UPGRADE OF WOLLONGONG WASTEWATER PUMPING STATION TO COMMENCE NEXT WEEK

Sydney Water and its contractor, Process Engineering Technologies (PET), are upgrading the wastewater pumping station at Bank Street, Wollongong from next week, Member for Wollongong Paul Scully said today.

Sydney Water and its contractor, Process Engineering Technologies (PET), are upgrading the wastewater pumping station at Bank Street, Wollongong from next week, Member for Wollongong Paul Scully said today.

 

The work, which will take place within the pump station, will involve:

 

  • replacing pumps, valves and associated equipment
  • installing new safety and access equipment
  • replacing and resealing hatch covers.

 

During the first week of work, hatch covers will be open and residents may notice an increase in odour.

 

Work is planned to start on Tuesday 12 December 2017 and will take about eight months to complete, weather permitting.

 

Work hours will be 7 am to 3.30 pm Monday to Friday. There will be no work over the festive holidays.

 

Mr Scully said there would be an increase in noise and vehicle movement in the area during the period of work.
