The third largest city in New South Wales has received slim pickings for the 2019-20 NSW budget.
Far from the Premier’s election promise that economic prosperity would be shared by all “no matter where they live or what their circumstance are”, the people and communities of Wollongong have been short-changed – again.
There is not a single cent in the budget to deliver the Government’s only election promise to the Wollongong electorate to build the Unanderra Station lifts.
Other funding mentioned in the budget is simply re-current funding taking into account population growth and the completion of projects already underway.
The people of Wollongong will be rightly disappointed that they are not a priority for the Berejiklian Government.
Comments attributable to Paul Scully MP:
“This year’s budget continues the Berejiklian Government’s long years of neglect for the state’s third largest city.
“The Government claims a building program on a scale not seen before but it is built on Unanderra residents’ ongoing need to scale 72 stairs to get to the platform.
“The 72 step struggle for our elderly, families with prams, commuters with bags and more importantly people with a disability, will continue for yet another year at least..
“The people of Wollongong will be rightly disappointed that yet again they are being ignored by the Berejiklian Government.”
