Illawarra Labor MPs have today requested an urgent briefing from the Minister for Corrections, David Elliott MP, following a proposal to build a new corrections facility at Kembla Grange.

We hope that the Minister will make arrangements for this briefing as urgently as possible.

There are many legitimate questions the local community will want answered.

We are keen to know more detail behind this proposal so that the community is informed of the facts of precisely what is under consideration by the Government.

However, it’s important to also note, as Corrective Services NSW has stressed today, no final decision has yet been made on this proposal.
