The Deputy Premier was unable to provide the details of a single benefit to the Illawarra of spending $2.5 billion on Sydney stadiums during Question Time in the NSW Parliament this afternoon.

Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Minister for the Illawarra, Ryan Park MP, asked the Deputy Premier, John Barilaro MP, if he could name a single benefit to the Illawarra of the Government’s plan to spend $2.5 billion on Sydney stadiums.

The Deputy Premier simply could not answer the question.

Comments attributable to Ryan Park MP:

“If the Government’s most senior members can’t provide a single benefit to the Illawarra region on spending $2.5 billion on Sydney stadiums, you just know the policy is a dud.

“We’ve got infrastructure priorities in the Illawarra which need investment but the Government would rather waste money on knocking down and rebuilding Sydney stadiums.

“NSW Labor will invest in our schools and hospitals – not Sydney stadiums.”

Comments attributable to Anna Watson MP:

“We’ve got a school maintenance backlog in Illawarra schools and yet the Government would prefer to spend $2.5 billion on Sydney stadiums.

“The Government’s priorities are just all wrong.”

Comments attributable to Paul Scully MP:

“The Government just can’t justify this massive cash splurge on Sydney stadiums.

“The Illawarra should get its fair share of $2.5 billion for our school, hospitals, and public transport rather than splurging it on Sydney stadiums.”
