GONG SHUTTLE TO REMAIN FREE

12 December 2017

Illawarra MPs Paul Scully and Ryan Park note the Government’s commitment to providing sufficient funding to keep the Gong Shuttle free to passengers until 30 June 2018.

Illawarra MPs Paul Scully and Ryan Park note the Government’s commitment to providing sufficient funding to keep the Gong Shuttle free to passengers until 30 June 2018.

Mr Scully and Mr Park said that this commitment, along with the funding partnership between the University of Wollongong and Wollongong City Council, achieves their objective of keeping the Gong Shuttle free to passengers.

Mr Scully and Mr Park maintain their position that it didn’t have to come to this; rather the Premier should have stuck to her promise to keep the service “forever more”.

Mr Scully and Mr Park said the fact that the Illawarra community has had to go through five weeks of fighting to keep this service free only to be told that “The Illawarra has never had it so good” reflects the lack of interest that the Berejiklian Government has in the Illawarra.

Mr Scully and Mr Park thanked the thousands of Illawarra residents who had expressed their support for the free Gong Shuttle and the local organisations who have publicly supported the campaign to keep the Gong Shuttle free.
