Final master plan sets vision for jobs growth in Albury

21 December 2023

The long-term vision to create highly skilled jobs and boost the Riverina economy has been released courtesy of the Albury Regional Job Precinct final master plan, which outlines a prosperous future for the NEXUS Industrial Precinct and adjacent land.

The Albury Regional Job Precinct final master plan sets out a strategic direction based on detailed technical studies, to create greater confidence for industries and businesses seeking to establish or expand in Albury.

The final master plan provides a planning framework to bolster development in and around the NEXUS precinct, with land now zoned to support future expansion and generate around 13,900 new jobs to 2036 and beyond.

The master plan was delivered in collaboration between the NSW Government and Albury City Council, building on the long-term strategic planning already done for the NEXUS precinct, and underpinned by technical studies.

Regional Job Precincts are delivered through the Snowy Hydro Legacy Fund, dedicated to transformative infrastructure projects in regional NSW, led by the Department of Regional NSW.

Precincts are located in Albury, South Jerrabomberra, Richmond Valley and Namoi.

Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Paul Scully said:

“Regional Job Precincts are focused on delivering planning support to local councils to drive investment and boost economic prosperity in regional areas to support jobs.

“We want to make Albury an even better place to live and work; where long-term growth, investment and development opportunities are available for everyone.

“This finalised master plan allows for the right balance of zoning to help us achieve this, and I thank everyone who provided their feedback.”

Minister for Regional NSW Tara Moriarty said:

“The government is committed to future-proofing regional communities by making it easier to attract and secure regional investment, create new jobs and set up communities like Albury for continued success now and into the future.

“Albury’s location along the Inland Rail and Hume Highway provides great opportunities for freight and logistics, as well as advanced and value-added manufacturing, circular economy, recycling and agribusiness industries.

“As part of the final master plan, this land is now zoned to support future expansion, and is ready to welcome more industrial and commercial businesses to the Riverina region.

“The final master plan incorporates feedback from stakeholders and community members, and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to have their say on the Albury precinct.”
