Exhibition extended for New England REZ Transmission Project

05 November 2026

The public exhibition period for the New England Renewable Energy Zone Transmission Project's Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be extended by an additional two weeks, giving communities a total of six weeks to have their say.

This is a significant project for NSW, critical to maintaining a secure, reliable, and cleaner electricity supply for NSW as ageing coal-fired power stations retire over the coming years.

I want to make sure local landholders and communities have sufficient time to review the detailed information and provide feedback.

Submissions don't need to include technical analysis but should raise any issues or concerns people have that should be considered in the projects assessment. It is the Department’s responsibility to assess the technical details of the project and all submissions raised during the public exhibition.

Community input is a vital part of the planning process and I encourage everyone with an interest in the project to take the opportunity to make a submission before Midnight, 26 November 2026.

All submissions received will be carefully considered as part of the Department’s rigorous whole-of-government assessment of the project.
