Member for Wollongong, Paul Scully MP, has officially launched his 2023 Kids Book Drive.

Now in its sixth year, the Kids Book Drive collects and donates books to students in Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2 at local schools across the Wollongong electorate, to encourage reading and help to support children maintain their literacy skills.

“Each year, I am overwhelmed by the response to my book drive. It just gets bigger and better.

“Over the last five years, thousands of books have been generously donated by members of the local community, and I hope that this year is no exception.

“I’m asking our local community to support my book drive again this year by either donating new books or a book voucher, for local kindy, year 1 and year 2 students.

“With the rising cost of living, I know this can be a big ask, but receiving the gift of a book can change a child’s life.

“I loved getting a book every Christmas as a kid. Giving the gift of books can encourage local kids to become not only lifelong readers but also lifelong learners.”

All books donated will be distributed amongst local Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 students in schools across the Wollongong electorate with additional books to be donated to SAHSSI for families fleeing domestic violence.

Books can be donated until Friday. 8 December 2023 at Mr Scully’s office at G2, 51 Crown St, Wollongong, or contact his office to make other arrangements.
